ABL represented in ES LIVE 2014 Football match

ABL Aluminium Components Ltd had Steve Judd, Sales and Production Coordinator, selected for the ES LIVE 2014 Industry Football match at Stadium MK, home of Milton Keynes Dons Football Club.

After spending a day talking to exhibitors about aluminium, heatsinks and anodising.

Steve arrived at the changing room for the team he was selected for to meet his team mates for the evening at about 4.30pm.

The Tournament was a round robin with each team playing two matches on the MK Dons pitch.

Steve, played both matches at Centre Half in the May heat, even scoring a penalty.

Steve said ” It was an amazing experience to play football in a 30,000 seat stadium and on a lovely pitch, the biggest changing rooms I had ever experienced in football”

Steve was asked if it compared to his first love, playing tennis at Wimbledon, which he did years ago, the reply was quick ” No Chance” ” but was still Fantastic”.

Staff report on Extrusion Mill Visit

Having started work at ABL components, I was keen to see how the profiles we stock or drawings and designs our customers have, turn into an extrusion.

It was arranged for me to visit one of the biggest extrusion mills in the U.K.

The scale of what met me was amazing, a large number of huge presses and long stretching tables in a vast factory, but the most noticeable thing to me was the heat, generated by the heating of the dies and the heating of the aluminium billets ready for extrusion.

The constant pressing of aluminium extrusions and the way they are stretched, cut and then age hardened in the ovens was amazing.

To think all the aluminium extrusion and heatsink profiles we stock have gone through these processes is incredible.
